Wild Type - New Blog
So here we are!
A new blog and a new website called Wild Type which I hope you will find informative and enjoyable. This has been a while in the making as I have since starting the building of this website been on a very significant journey walking through the Highlands of Scotland. I did this to walk in the footsteps of my ancestors as they travelled from Glen Lyon in Perthshire to settle in Lochaber. The subsequent generation ended up emigrating to Canada after a brief spell on the Isle of Skye. Just recently I discovered that they sailed from Mallaig (although that information was in the documents I had but had never caught my eye), the same place I regularly passed through going back and forth to Knoydart.
It may have been weeks now since I have arrived back in Oxford but the significance of that walk is still settling in and probably will be for some time. I will come back to reflect on it here I’m sure.
However I also want to be able to share with the wider world some of the activities that I’m currently involved in here in Oxford and further afield. So keep an eye on this space!
On the whole though this website will be primarily focussed on anything to do with nature, biodiversity, exploration and our relationship to land. The “Wild Type” theme will be something I will be expressing organically as the website develops. I will also be experienting with the way that I am able to do this actively and still be close to nature. I consider technology a tool to be used and not something to be used by as it seems so much of our lives are today. Nature is everywhere and technology is a part of it but there has to be a balance.
I welcome people to join me on this journey in many ways including contributing to this website or meeting me for a walk in nature. Feel free to get in touch:
